Community Grow

The planning application has not been completed ready for submission. It was discussed clearing could start in September/ October prior to the application being approved.

A discussion took place in relation to people submitting bids to WGRA for money to spruce up the area around their homes. It was agreed that if this was to happen, they would need to ask RMG for permission themselves and not expect WGRA to do this on their behalf.

WR agreed he would act as conduit between RMG and residents in relation to this. WR informed the meeting the new contact for RMG is Errika Miraka.

Actions

  • WR to speak to resident in relation to hedges being cut and access to a digger to clear the site at community grow area
  • JG to chase Luke Divine re written consent for land
  • LS to make the application a priority
  • LS to put post on Facebook asking for help to clear the site in September/October

Summer camp

The meeting was informed that 10 out of the 15 days were planned. Out of the 10 days that were used 112 children were booked to attend the camp, however, a large number of these cancelled at the last minute.

Only 8 days were delivered as some had to be cancelled due to adverse weather. Therefore, there is 7 days of funding remaining (£4290).

It was agreed further camps would be arranged in October/ April and May to use up the funding.

The feedback from those that attended was that it focused on sport and was not inclusive for everyone, needed some more crafts etc.

Grant applications

The application from NOVA was discussed, this has been researched and it would appear we do not fit the criteria for this type of grant.

NG suggested submitting a grant application for the Christmas event.

It was agreed an application would be submitted to WPC to assist with the cost of sprucing up the development, for equipment required etc.

Actions

  • JG to submit application for 3rd sector
  • JG, LS, NG to have a meeting to discuss this and NG to submit the application.

It was discussed that the events are not self-funding or making a profit. A suggestion was to make more of a WGRA run event for Halloween and the scarecrow event.

A further suggestion was to hold a football event at the cricket club, this has already been partly discussed by PS and NG.

Actions

  • NG to pursue this as events lead.

6 people showed an interest in this position, 5 people attended the first meeting. Paul Kitterick to arrange a further meeting and lead on this, WGRA will still liaise with them via JG and WR.
