A discussion took place in relation to the gate near the Old School house which the committee were hoping to close and secure in an attempt to stop quad bikes and off road motorcycle. WR has been in touch with Wakefield and Barnsley Councils regarding ownership. It was agreed to await a reply from them, if they do not own the gate, WGRA would then contact the residents of the two homes at the location informing them the gate would be closed and locked going forward and ask them to remove their vehicles from the area. JG informed the meeting he had sent an email to the local Police off road team re the ASB in the woodland and on the estate.

Treasury

No financial update from AM as he still does not have access to the bank account. The main outgoings recently were the purchase of the greenhouse and the woodland sign. JG informed the meeting the public liability insurance is due for renewal, this would now need to include the woodland.

Actions

  • JG to send link to AM to resolve the issue.
  • JG to research estimates for Public Liability Insurance.

RMG update

No update recently, it was agreed no issues would be put to them and anything arising will be saved until the new management company is appointed.

Directorship

No new update in relation to this matter, a meeting is due to take place on Tuesday 11th March and a further meeting is due in next few weeks with the proposed management company.

Woodland update

WR has been making numerous enquiries with organisations and is awaiting replies.

The Woodland trust has agreed to donate a large number of trees and shrubs, however these are not due to be delivered until November 2025. It was agreed a plan was needed to identify where they would be planted and identify volunteers to help with the planting.

JG and WR had a productive meeting with a representative from the forestry commission who recommended removal of the laurel saplings as they are not a native species and can become invasive.

It was agreed WGRA should purchase a chain saw and other equipment to keep the woodland and area tidy.

The area next to the woodland under the electricity pylons was discussed again, in a previous meeting LN stated she would approach a family member to see if they could clear the iste to enable a wild flower meadow to be created. Nothing heard to date. WR has made contact with Coxley tree care re this piece of work and is awaiting a reply.

Actions

  • WR to chase replies and update next meeting.
  • WR to chase Coxlet Tree care and update next meeting.

Other discussion

It was agreed there was a large amount of work ongoing in relation to the woodland, adoption of roads, new directorship and new management company. It was agreed that events on the development should take a back seat as they are not well attended and are not producing the income required.

The damage to the grass caused by the local council when emptying the waste bin on Maydal Drive was discussed. This had been reported to the council and they had stated the bin was so heavy it had to be moved due to health and safety. WR has been back to the council and asked for numerous documents relating to their H&S training, plans etc as WGRA did not agree with the information they had supplied. The reply from WDC is still outstanding.

An issue has been identified in relation to the apartments on Silverwood Road and at Mission Court, they are not managed by RMG. WR has made extensive enquiries in relation to the directors and management companies for both premises. Mission Court is managed by a company called Anthem and one of the directors for the Silverwood apartments is Colin Bryers. Further work to be carried out in relation to this matter with a view to the new management company taking on responsibility for all apartment blocks.

AM raised the issue re the knee high fence on River View has still not been repaired.

Actions

  • WR to report issue regarding River View fencing to RMG
